An Open Invitation At Christmas

This is the season when we gather with family and friends in our homes, whether in-person or virtually. We connect and our lives are made better through the love that binds us. The love of God pours down at Christmas time, showing us a glimpse of a world filled with peace. This is our hope and it transcends our mortal lives, filling and nourishing our spirits.
You are invited to join us as we gather online to sing songs, reflect, pray and, once again, are reminded of the power of God’s grace and how Jesus makes our lives together better.

2020 Opportunities to Gather on Facebook and YouTube*
  • December 20th at 10:00 am
  • Blue Christmas (12/20) at 7:00 pm for those who struggle to find joy in this season
  • Christmas Eve at 8:00 pm (candle lighting)
  • Christmas Day devotion at 10:00 am
  • December 27th at 10:00 am

*Please note: YouTube services start 15 minutes later. All services can be watched any time after they premiere.

Bienvendo, Mabuhay, Swagat, Wilkommen and Jambo! Welcome to the first ever Corona UMC Advent @ Home.
We miss seeing you. You and your household are important to us. To help us connect this year, our wonderful Church Council asked us to prepare a kit to help you worship at home during Advent and Christmas.

We invite you to join us each occasion online for a service. The kit will help you to make your home a holy place, where God is present. Your home and the homes of our church family and friends connect together as the body of Christ, knowing God’s love in a meaningful, spiritual way.
There are a several items in the kit. The worship booklet is key. We provide indoor luminarias so you can join us each occasion for candle lighting. (Please be safe. If you are concerned about candles, we suggest using an LED version). There is a nativity scene for you make out of boxes and stickers. For children and youth, we have crafts and activities.

We encourage you to participate! Wear your slippers, light the candles, get the YouTube list and play some Christmas songs, watch the videos and do the crafts. Read scripture out loud and answer the conversation starter. Pray together. Serve someone else with love. Have fun while you do. After all, Christmas is a time of joy, the joy we have because of Jesus coming.

Most of all, we pray you find time to rest and be God’s child, just as you are, for Jesus loves you and cares for you … and so do we!

Gathering Together

ZOOM Gatherings - we have two ZOOM services this year
  • ZOOM church at 10:00 am on December 13th
This takes the place of our children’s Christmas program. Join us for an opening and then time in a small, online group with your friends. We’ll have family-oriented groups and others as well. Please contact the church office to sign up and we’ll send you an invite.
  • Blue Christmas at 7:00 pm on December 20th
A new occasion, we’ll gather online for a quiet conversation, reflection, a little music and time sharing our stories. This is not a “smile, be happy” service, but a time to reflect for those for whom Christmas is a difficult time.

Opportunities to Serve

Talk to one of our Sierra Service Project (SSP) team members and you’ll quickly discover that our young people talk about “opportunities to serve.” That’s how volunteers and teams get work done. Everyone pitches in. Here are some ways to show we care for our community. Through your service Corona UMC has a positive social impact, changing lives for the better.
2020 Giving opportunities:
  • Giving Tuesday (December 1st)
Support Mozart Adevu, UMCOR or other United Methodist missionaries and ministries. Here’s the link: umcmission.org/give/ . Please note gifts given on Giving Tuesday are often matched (see web site for details). You can give as an individual or list Corona UMC, so we know and share too.
  • Alternative Christmas
Have a friend or family member who’s hard to shop for or looking for something that will make the world better? Check out the enclosed list of gifts that keep giving, thanks to our United Methodist Women.
  • Settlement House
Join us in our long-standing support of the Corona-Norco Settlement House (
www.settlementhouse.net). We normally help with food and gift distribution for Christmas, but COVID-19 is changing things. You generous support will allow them to give gift cards, hotel rooms and more.
  • Corona UMC
Our community of faith makes a big difference in the greater Corona-Norco area. We change the spiritual lives of hundreds of people in our neighborhoods and across the globe. We offer a space where people can come, be safe, learn about Jesus and grow.
