United Methodist Women (UMW)

The U.M.W. are very active in the church with all sorts of activities throughout the year.  The purpose of all of our fundraisers is to raise money for mission programs that support women, youth and children around the world. We hope you will find and join a group that is of interest to you and meets your needs.

Current activities are:
  • Faith Journey - A group of women who enjoy community with each other on the journey of faith and support each other in everyday life. Everyone who wishes to takes turn leading the meetings.  Meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the church.

  • Bad Girls of the Bible -  A study and community-building group that meets on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm at the church. (During Covid-19 is continuing meeting weekly on Thursday at 6:30pm via Zoom.)

  • Book Readers Club - A group that reads and discusses a wide variety of books for spiritual and personal growth.  They meet at noon on the  second Thursday of each at the home of Pat Harns.

  • Faith in Motion -  UMW has partnered with a social worker at Corona Norco Child Protective Services to assist children in poverty.  The social worker communicates special needs of children  and we provide help.  This group does not regularly have meetings, but communicates by e Mail and phone.

  • Seams of Faith - Women get together to sew items for a good cause. Participants use many different types of sewing.  Some previous projects were school bags for children in poverty in Africa, “Days for Girls” kits that enable 3rd world girls to continue attending school through the month, and Christmas items for the Bazaar. Meets the first and third Thursdays at 10 am at the church.

  • Executive Council  - UMW officers meet once a month to plan and coordinate activities of all the different groups.  Meets once a month on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the church.

​Special Events
  • UMW Sunday - Once a year, the women participate in all parts of the Sunday worship service and provide the message.  The contribution of women to the church locally and throughout the world is honored.
  • Mother’s Day - On a Saturday preceding Mother’s Day,  mothers are honored with a special celebration each year.
  • Mission U  (formerly called the School of Christian Mission) - is provided for women from all over the California Pacific Conference every July.  It is  a 3 day program held at a southern California college campus.  The cultural diversity is always great, along with education on spiritual growth, social action, and missions.
  • Jelly and brittle making - Every September and October,  these products are made in preparation for the Bazaar in November.
  • Bazaar -  Usually the second Saturday in November, the items women have made are sold and the money used for missions.  The men provide a Turkey Dinner on the same day.
  • All - UMW events - (Unit meetings) Held twice a year on a Saturday  to provide fellowship and education for all women of the church.  One  is in August and the women who attended Mission U share their experiences  Dates and times will be published.

We had a wonderful time at camp Lock Leven in the San Bernardino forest.  Laura Prior was our fantastic guest speaker.  Together we bonded and grew closer to the Lord.

Annual Women's Missions Projects
